Need to get a drone with lidar

My company has been working with a drone and an rgb camera for most of the projects, but things have changed. I've been offered to work as a subcontractor for a largr project and for that I'll need a drone with lidar. I was thinking of getting one, but I'm also thinking about outsourcing a company that deals with this. My question is is this worth it or should I get the equipment and have it for future use?

Outsourcing is the smarter move if its a short term project becasue LiDAR drones are expensive and take time to learn. But if this gig leads to more LiDAR work, owning the gear could be worth it yunno, price out both options first

Outsourcing makes total sense if it's a short term project yes I completely agree with @Berth over here that LiDAR drones are pricey. And they're not easy to learn. If you got more work then I believe that's the time you can invest.

If it's just for this one job, maybe outsourcing is the best option. But if you see more LiDAR projects coming, investing now might save you later. @b99 makes total sense here I mean both of them. You have to really get into the game.
