Horizontal aerial LiDAR?

There's some debate about how accurate photogrammetry really is, but for projects that need high precision, LiDAR is usually the better option. I wanted to scan the 6th Floor Museum in Dallas, especially the Sniper's Nest, but they wont allow laser scanners inside so i need a backup plan. I know flying a drone higher reduces accuracy, but I'm thinking of flying it just inches from the windows with the scanner pointed straight in. The data I've got so far isnt great, lower floors look clear, but the 6thfloor is blurry. Aerial LIDAR is pricey and hard to schedule, but I've got a good deal from a ground based team. Would flying super close with a sideways scanner give better results??
 
Flying close with a sideways scanner might help, but windows can mess with accuracy..and ground-based LiDAR is your best bet indoors for sharp, reliable scans, especially in tricky spots
 
Yeah, the reflections can be a pain in the ass and mess things up. Considering interior scanning isn't allowed, you can combine this with angled photogrammetry which can give you better result around the nest.
 
Yeah but it still won't be as accurate as LiDAR. Since laser scanners arent allowed indoors, using a ground-based LiDAR team is a smart move, especially since aerial LiDAR is expensive and hard to book. Flying close with a sideways scanner might improve things a bit, but combining that with ground scans is probably your best move if you want positive results
 
Since aerial LiDAR is tough and costly, combining close up drone shots with ground based LiDAR is a smart move or maybe try different angles or polarizing filters on the drone camera to reduce that
