Came across an interesting piece on inertial navigation systems on Lidar news, featuring insights from a senior product engineer at OXTS. The article does a great job breaking down the basics of INS and why it's so critical for producing accurate lidar point clouds, especially when GNSS signals are unreliable or unavailable.
It also touches on emerging applications, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, and high precision mapping. One of the more intriguing points is how OXTS seems to be shifting its focus toward smarter sensor fusion, calibration methods, and algorithm development hinting that future improvements in localization accuracy may rely more on processing and integration techniques than on new IMU hardware.

Overall, it's a solid read if you're interested in lidar, navigation technology, or just want a clearer picture of how these systems work together

I think I came across a title mentioning something similar, but never got around to reading it and since then I've lost it so it's long gone. Can you explain the insights or send me the link?
